Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 6/21/2010

Receipts:  410   Last Week:  536   Last Year:  197

   Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 lower and
slaughter bull sold 1.00 higher. Heat limited today’s receipts, and even
though money had been taken off the meat, buyers had to bid prices up to
near last week’s level to take ownership of enough cows and bulls to meet
their needs. A couple herd sell-outs provided a moderate supply of good
quality cow/calf pairs and a light supply of bred cows. Supply was light
and demand moderate for slaughter classes.

Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd and
3rd stage 1008-1320 lbs most 700.00-850.00; pkg. 2 yr blacks 3rd stage
1050.00. Large 1-2  2-3 yrs 2nd and 3rd stage couple pkgs. 1200-1270 lbs
850.00-900.00. Medium and Large 2  3-6 yrs 3rd stage couple 1085-1135 lbs

w/new born calf 710.00. Large 1-2  6 yrs to short and solid mouth 1460-1565
lb cows w/babies to 290 lb calves 1050.00-1135.00. Medium 1-2  5 yrs to
short and solid mouth 920-990 lb cows w/160-185 lb calves 850.00-1000.00;
broken mouth 935-945 lb cows w/150-280 lb calves 750.00-760.00.
