Two MHS baseball Cubs named to All-State honors

Two members of the Monett High School Cubs 2010 baseball team have been named to All-State honors by the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association for Class 3.

Jake Smith, a junior, was named catcher for the first team. Smith set a record with 39 RBIs and had a batting average of .514. He was the Offensive Player of the Year for the Cubs.

Spenser Witt, a senior, was voted honorable mention for the outfield. Witt won the Mr. Cub Award and was named Most Valuable Player. He hit a .456 average, scored 35 runs and set a season record for getting on base with balls at 22.

Coach for the Cubs was Michael Calhoun.
