Local golfer competes in junior PGA circuit

Friday, June 11, 2010

Monett's Jacob Fair shot a tournament-best early round of 69 and went on to take fourth place at the PGA Junior Series golf tournament at Windyke Country Club in Memphis, Tenn., on June 4. Fair shot 74-74 on his other two rounds for a 217 total. Fellow Missourian Ryan Zech from Kearney won the championship with three consecutive tours of 70 strokes each.

Fair continued the strong play that carried him to a fifth place tie at the MSHSAA Class 3 State Golf Championships back in May. He carded a 71 on the final round at Republic's Island Green Golf Club and moved up the leaderboard from 16th to the tie for fifth at the state meet.

Fair will only be a junior at Monett High School for the 2010-11 school year.
