Reverend Robert "Bob" L. Smith, age 81, of Springfield, formerly of Monett, passed away on May 31, 2010 after a lengthy illness.
He was born on March 9, 1929 in Princeton, MO., to Vera and Lloyd Smith.
He was united in marriage to Blanche on July 18, 1977. Bob was an Army Veteran and worked at Montgomery GMC, Wal-Mart and most recently at Fisk Limousine Service. He was also an ordained minister and shared the word with all he knew.
Surviving him is his loving wife, Blanche; children: Edward Joe Smith and wife, Marsha; Anita Golden; Nona Ray and husband, David; Sherman David Smith; Rita Boles; Norah West; Tina Switzer and husband, Ken; Phyllis Wilcox and husband, Robert; Sonia Hiller and husband, Mike; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vera and Lloyd Smith; a daughter: Lisa Joan McElyea; grandchild: Thomas West III; three great-grandchildren: Trenton Stockton, Jeremy Stockton II and Bradey Smith.
Bob will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 4 in Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Highway EE (W. Division) in Springfield, Missouri.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the White Chapel Funeral Home with interment to follow in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
