Springfield, MO- Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cattle Auction Report for 05/26/2010

Receipts:  1669    Last Week:  1851    Year Ago:  1744
 
Compared to last week feeders sold 2.00 to 4.00 lower with the majority 
of 600-700 lb feeders 4.00 to 6.00 lower. Holstein Steers sold 1.00 to 
3.00 lower. The feeder supply was made up of 34 percent steers, 39 percent 
heifers, 14 percent Holstein steers and 13 percent feeder bulls. Near 
41 percent of the feeders weighed over 600 lbs. Early feed lot sales this 
week have trended 2.00 to 4.00 lower than last week. Outside markets such 
as the DJIA which closed below the 10,000 market on Wednesday, which was 
the second time this week, have had some spillover pressure on the cattle 
markets. Grains also closed higher for the day as exports remain strong. 
Locally many farmers are very busy in the hay fields trying to dodge 
pop up thunderstorms and move hay harvest to at least average as harvest 
is currently behind the average progress.
