Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 5/26/10

Receipts:  1260   Last Week:  1109   Last Year:  920

   Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows sold 1.00-2.00 lower and
slaughter bulls sold steady to 1.00 higher. The offering included several
dispersals from reputation herds providing a heavy supply of good quality
cow/calf pairs, there was a moderate supply of bred cows with several of
above average quality from those dispersals. Rain showers yesterday and
overcast skies today gave producers a break from the hay fields and an
opportunity to bring cows to market. Supply was heavy and demand good for
slaughter classes.

and 3rd stage 975-1300 lbs most 675.00-875.00, better quality from dis-
persals 900.00-1050.00, 1st stage pkg. 1150 lbs 700.00; broken mouth 3rd
stage pkg. 1300 lbs 720.00. Large 1-2  3-5 yrs 2nd and 3rd stage 1425-1500

cows w/babies to 165 lb calves 810.00-850.00. Medium and Large 2  2-6 yrs
800-1100 lb cows w/130-175 lb calves 700.00-825.00. Medium 1-2  2 yrs to
short and solid mouth 875-1050 lb cows w/babies to 225 lb calves 850.00-
1000.00.
