Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 5/24/10

   Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 lower after
opening steady to 1.00 higher and slaughter bulls sold 1.00-2.00 higher.
The over-all quality of the offering was not as good as the past couple
weeks. Winds and higher temperatures have helped to dry up some of the
excess moisture received last week and the harvest of grass hay is well
underway. The supply of bred cows and cow/calf pairs was light to moderate.
Supply was moderate and demand moderate to good for slaughter classes.
Note: There will be no cow and bull auction next Monday May 31st due to the
Holiday.
