Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 05/19/2010

   Compared to last week, all weights of feeder steers and heifers sold 2.00-
5.00 lower with a much lighter test of Holstein steers trading 3.00-6.00 
lower.  Losses on the CME cattle futures and lower fed cattle trade pressured 
the market.  The auction started out slow but noticeably stepped-up when the 
Wean-Vac portion of the sale began, as buyers put more emphasis on these 
traits as temperatures are expected to heat up.  Supplies included 44 percent 
steers, 39 percent heifers, 10 percent feeder bulls, and only 7 percent 
Holstein steers.  Around 31 percent of the cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
