Carthage, MO- Joplin Regional Stockyards: Feeder Cattle Auction Close 05/17/2010

   Compared to last week, feeder cattle and calves sold steady to 2.00 lower.  
Spots of weakness were noted throughout the lighter offering, with the 
exception of top quality 500 lb steers which were fully steady.  Buyers with 
precise orders were still just as active, but bidders merely accumulating 
numbers around the edges were more conservative.  Persistently wet conditions 
in the Four State Area curbed receipts.  Supply included 52 percent steers, and 
43 percent heifers, and 5 percent Holsteins and feeder bulls.  Around 38 
percent of the cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
