Top grads named at Verona High

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Honor graduates for the Class of 2010 at Verona High School have been announced by Principal Terry Winton.

Ryan Jennings, son of Mark and Tina Jennings, and Stephanie Koehler, daughter of Mark and Yavonne Koehler, will be co-valedictorians. A total of 22 diplomas will be awarded during commencement exercises at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Verona High School gym.

In addition to speeches by the top graduates, the special guest speaker invited by the student body will be Bob Berger, one of the founders of WinTech Corporation and partner with his wife, Debbie, in establishing Mocha Jo's coffee café in Monett. The Bergers made room in the second floor of their business for The Den youth center.

Scholarship winners will also be announced during commencement exercises.

Baccalaureate services for the class were held on Wednesday night at the Verona Baptist Church. The speaker will be the pastor of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Verona.
