Missouri Weekly Hay Summary - Week ending 04/14/2010

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Farmers are eager to get tractors into the fields, rains and now in some
cases standing water has prevented any progress with hay harvest this
week. May 1 hay stocks in Missouri were at 1.25 million tons, down 800,000
tons from last year but 350,000 tons above 2008.  After last year’s high
May hay stocks and a cold winter, hay supplies are near the 10-year average
May 1 level. The supply of hay is light, demand moderate, and prices steady.
Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both
buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory, visit,
