Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 5/03/10

   Compared to last Monday, the bulk of slaughter cows sold 1.00-2.00
lower and slaughter bulls sold steady to 1.00 higher. Strong slaughter
prices continue to attract producers attention and results in larger
receipts of especially open and less productive cows. A high percent of
the offering went to slaughter with only small number of bred cows return-
ing to the farm and a light supply of cow calf pairs. Supply was heavy and
demand good for slaughter classes.

   Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd
and 3rd stage 1050-1350 lbs most 650.00-875.00, several more attractive
