Crosslines fills board vacancies

Monday, April 26, 2010

Melvin Casper and Joe Barnes were welcomed as new members of the Crosslines Board. They filled vacancies left by Wanda Fulp and K.C. Caldwell, whose terms expired in December 2009.

The Crosslines board consists of 12 members and meets monthly. Other board members include: Lonnie Dunn, Jerry Stroud, Betty Messer, Judy Burton, Jerry James, Bill Elwell, Katheryn Cuendet, Shelly Enloe, Bill Haynes and Ted Norris.

According to Crosslines Director Jolene Garoutte, 2010 started off slower than in past years, but with the warmer weather, people are cleaning out closets and garages and dropping off more items at the facility, which is located at 510 Cleveland Ave. in Monett.

Walmart has been donating dented and damaged items to Crosslines, which provides greater assistance to the pantry.

In October, several Crosslines board members will be attending a grant seminar in Springfield with foundations attending.

During the first quarter of the year, 482 families were assisted by Crosslines. In addition, 33 families were assisted through Salvation Army funds collected from the Bell Ringing at Walmart during the Christmas season.
