Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 4/21/10

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Receipts: 1463 Last Week: 1877 Last Year: 1650

Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows and slaughter bulls sold
1.00-2.00 higher. Slaughter prices continue to gain strength as packer
buyers bid aggressively to fill their orders. Strong slaughter prices
have limited the number of bred cows returning to the farm. The offering
included several good quality cow/calf pairs from some herd sell-outs.
Supply was heavy and demand very good for slaughter classes.
