A Purdy couple was injured Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on Highway 76 one mile east of Cape Fair.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sue M. Wilks, 67, and Gary R. Wilks, 67, were taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Sue Wilks was listed as having serious injuries and Gary Wilks suffered moderate injuries.
The crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. when Gary Wilks failed to negotiate a curve, travelled off the left side of the road and overturned, throwing both Gary and Sue Wilks from the motorcycle.
Other traffic crashes
* A Purdy teen was injured Friday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash on Farm Farm 2070 two miles west of Purdy. Tiffany A. Hunnell, 19, was airlifted to St. John's Hospital in Springfield with minor injuries after the 1985 Dodge Ram she was driving ran off the right side of the road, through a fence, travelled 877 feet across a field and struck a second fence before travelling another 355 feet and striking a tree. The Patrol report indicated that Hunnell was not wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred at 2 p.m.
* A one-vehicle crash on Friday morning left a Washburn woman with moderate injuries. Meagan I. Hendrix was taken by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield after the 2005 Mazda she was driving ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned. The crash occurred at 10:30 a.m. on Highway 37 three miles north of Seligman. Hendrix was wearing a seat belt.
