Loren Harrison Mahurin, 79, of Purdy, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Cox South in Springfield, Mo. He was born October 30, 1930 to Alvie and Mabel (Lombard) Mahurin in Monett, Mo. He was united in marriage to Wilma Wormington of Purdy on July 23, 1955.
Loren worked at the Gillioz Theater until he was drafted by the U.S. Army to the Korean War and served two years. When he returned home he worked for Jumping Jack Shoes in Monett. When he retired he had 50 years of service to Jumping-Jack Shoes.
Loren served as usher at the Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church, a Deacon at Purdy Free Will and was a member of Easyville Fundamental Methodist Church at the time of his death.
Loren enjoyed sports, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Loren is survived by his wife, Wilma; three sons: Tim and wife, Jan, of Purdy; Steve and wife, Marcia, of Colony, Okla., and Kevin and wife, Stephanie, of Monett; one daughter: Vicki and husband, Curtis Bradley, of Oak Grove, Ark.; four grandsons: Nathan and Jacob Bradley of Ark., Grady and Damon Mahurin of Monett; five granddaughters: Courtney and Tracey Mahurin of Colony, Okla., Hannah and Abigail Bradley of Ark., Audra Mahurin of Purdy; one great-granddaughter: Tinlee Mahurin of Weatherford, Ok; and one sister: Helen Witt of Pierce City.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents one brother Wayne; one sister, Ora Thurman; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday April 18 from 2 till 4 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday April 19 at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Howerton and Ronnie Fieker officiating. Burial will follow at Purdy Cemetery.
