EFCO expands with Springfield facility

Friday, April 16, 2010

EFCO Corporation, a Pella company, has announced plans to add a Super Service Center in Springfield, which will include the creation of new jobs.

According to James Bateman, director of storefront for EFCO, the facility will manufacture and provide coast-to-coast access to stock lengths, fabricated materials and EFCO entrance doors for commercial construction needs.

Springfield was chosen as a central location for shipping products. Customers will be able to go to the center for new construction products or for updating existing storefronts. The center will be the first of its kind for EFCO. It will be located at 2030 N. Alliance, in the Partnership Industrial Center, in 45,000 square feet of a 75,000 square foot facility. Opening is expected in mid-summer.

The center will be staffed by 20 employees and will also serve as headquarters for EFCO's expanded storefront operations. According the Kathy Krafka Harkema, spokesperson for Pella Corporation, some of the employees, including the director of storefront, will move from current positions in Monett to the new facility in Springfield. The rest will be newly created positions.

"EFCO is growing at a time when many other businesses are closing up," Krafka Harkema said. "EFCO is an industry leader, and as a Pella company, is stronger than ever. This will be good for the entire area and will help to retain business in Monett."

"Our goal in expanding to Springfield is to provide service and storefront product capability that will support EFCO customers with shorter lead-times and reduced freight costs," Bateman said.

Storefronts can range from a single store to multi-story structures for retail shopping centers, schools, universities, hospitals, office buildings, churches and all types of government or institutional buildings.

Krafka Harkema said renovations for energy efficiency, especially in government buildings, is widespread at the present time. Opening the Springfield facility provided the best option for rapid expansion to meet demand.

In addition to the new Super Service Center in Springfield, EFCO also operates three service centers in Las Vegas, Nev., Chicago, Ill., and Verona, Va., and distribution centers in Denver, Colo., Phoenix, Ariz., Salt Lake City, Utah, Lubbock, Texas, and Wylie, Texas.

Applicants are presently being sought by EFCO for storefront or aluminum entrance fabrication, estimating, customer service, programing and drafting positions. Inquiries can be made by e-mail to EFCO's Human Resources Department at resumes@efcocorp.com.

Headquartered in Monett, EFCO provides innovative customer solutions to satisfy commercial design challenges from historical replication to cutting-edge new construction. EFCO manufactures architectural windows, curtain walls, storefronts and entry systems designed for commercial construction needs sold through independent sales representatives across the United States.
