MMS track teams compete at Aurora

The seventh and eighth-grade Lady Cub girls came away from the Tuesday meet at Aurora in second place between the host and Reeds Spring.

Monett winners were: Brooke Madison, 400-meter and 800 run; Tara Hancock, pole vault; Faith Schmidt, 75 hurdles; Abbey Pilkenton, pole vault; Lupe Renteria, shot; Hollie Huse, triple jump; and Karissa Wiseman, 75 hurdles.

Lady Cub runners-up were: Tara Hancock, high jump; Shelby Obermann, shot; Brooke Burnside, discus; Faith Schmidt, 100-meter dash; Hollie Huse, 400 run; and Michelle Ingle, high jump.

Third place winners were: Leslie Obregon, 400 run; Katie Kaiser, high jump; Bonnie Upchurch, discus; Brooke Madison, triple jump and 200 dash; Bailey Petersen, 100 dash; Jordan Marion, discus; Megan Johnson, Ireland Mertens, Huse and Petersen, 800 relay; and Kaiser, McGuire, Burnside and Obregon, 800 relay.

The eighth grade Cub boys placed third overall in a field of nine teams.

Aaron Aldrich was the squad's gold medalist, winning the pole vault competition.

Runners-up were: Barret Southern, 100-meter hurdles; Alexix Renteria, 1600 run; Jonah Ragsdale, triple jump,; and Chase Brennan, pole vault.

The 4x100 relay team of Chris Alvarado, Chris Van Lue, Southern and Brennan, finished third.
