PIERCE CITY - The boys and girls track teams of host Pierce City both won in a field of 16 teams at the annual Hillbilly Relays on Tuesday.
The Eagle girls team total of 125 points was challanged only by Ash Grove, which came in second with 122. Lamar was third at 72 and Miller fourth at 47.5.
Pierce City girls champions were: Kelsie Baldwin, 100-meter high hurdles; Sara Stearns, discus and shot put; Makina Kelley, pole vault; and Becca Hatfield, Amanda Zabala, Faith Strong and Mattie Parrigon in the 4x800 relay.
Runners-up for the Lady Eagle girls were: Krishna Merriman, 400 dash; Chelsey Levingston, Rachel Miller, Ashleys Emily and Abby, 4x100 relay; and Brianna Zebert, Parrigon, Merriman and Emily Ashley, 4x400 relay.
Third place medalists for the Pierce City girls were: Emily Ashley, 100 dash; Becca Hatfield, 1,600 run; Makina Kelley, 300 hurdles; and Christine Levingston, triple jump.
The boys prevailed with a team score of 109, followed by Ash Grove's 84. Lamar and Marionville tied for third with 65 points.
Pierce City boys champions were: Zach Crouch, shot put; Cody Cox, 200-meter dash; and Jordan Saffer, Cedric O'Hara, Tony Martin and Cox, 4X100 relay and 4x200 relay. The 4x200 pace by the Pierce City foursome set a new school record at 1:32.89
Runners-up for the boys were: Cedric O'Hara, 300 hurdles, Chance Chapman, 100 high hurdles; Cody Cox, 100 dash; Derek Turner, high jump; Robert Baldwin, triple jump; and Chapman, Baldwin, Martin and O'Hara, 4x400 relay.
Third place winners were: Chance Chapman, 300 hurdles; and Jordan Saffer, 100 dash;
