A few days removed from success at the Ash Grove Classic, Pierce City track coach Brad Hocker was all business in his philosophy.
"Parents and administrators entrust me to teach their kids everything I know about the sport. So I study each and every event to grow our athletes," he said.
Indeed he has. During the four seasons he's led Eagle track and field, increased participation has fueled evermore conference championships the school is accustomed to.
A coach's imprint is clear after two seasons, no matter the level of success he inherits. It's clear the Pierce City track team is striving to move faster and jump higher than the impressive teams of the past.
Hocker's background in football and basketball background has brought the team-ball fire to his bunch. Nothing casual about Eagle practices, as each athlete's effort is an important opportunity to improve, as witnessed yesterday. It appears to be a desired extension of the school day, a volunteer class dozens of students choose to take:
