CARTHAGE -- In a field of 10 schools, the Monett girls track teams placed fifth and the boys finished sixth at the 26th annual Carthage Invitational.
The girls' 4x200-meter relay team of junior Katie Upchurch, seniors Sara Hammond and Millie Fulton and freshman Raigan Ratliff took second. The same team, with sophomore Sophie Fulton running in place of Upchurch, placed third in the 4x400 relay.
Other third place finishers were: Millie Fulton in the 400-meter dash; junior Hannah Martin in the high jump; and junior Madison Carlin in the 110 high hurdles and the 300 hurdles.
Neosho ran away with the win, tallying 164 points. Monett had 49.
For the boys, Chris Eimer spearheaded the team again, finishing second in the long jump and in the 4x100-meter relay with teammates Matt Hinkle, Christian Privett and Tristen Homfeldt. The same relay team took third in the 4x200 event.
Senior action figures Jason Obermann and Beau Bounous each took third in the shot put and discus.
The Monett boys tallied 46 points while Joplin's squad earned 120 points to win it.
