Monett youth wrestlers medal at state

Monett was represented by 13 young grapplers at the state youth wrestling tournament held this past weekend at the Hearnes Center on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia.

The group from Monett competed against 1,050 of the best wrestlers from across the state who qualified for the state meet by placing in the top four at their regional tournaments. Monett's Carlos Cordova was the champion in the Division 3 190-pound weight class. Other medalists from Monett were: Chase Brennan, third at 95 pounds in Division 5; Ian Meyer, fifth at 110 pounds in Division 4; Bo Vincent, fifth at 130 pounds in Division 5; and Clayton Cardova, fifth at 115 pounds in Division 2.

Other wrestlers who qualified and competed at the state meet were: Wesley Merriman, Gunnar Bradley, Karter Brink, Joey Semerad, Kedric Brik, Garret Bradley, Wyatt Perry and Ben Cole.

The youth wrestlers from Monett are coached by Jason Perry, John Vincent, AJ Bahl and Gary Meyer.
