After beginning the season with narrow defeats, the Purdy Eagles brought back a 12-2 victory from Lamar on Monday night to go 1-3 on the season.
Riding a streak of three consecutive district titles, Coach Josh Hughes has his kids expecting success.
"That's the way we like it," said Hughes. "Once you start winning, it's kind of contagious."
Junior Landon Terry pitched four innings before senior Daniel Burnside finished up in the called five-inning game.
Purdy produced 12 hits, including a whopping five doubles and a grand slam in the second inning by sophomore Cody Hall. Two other sophomores also contributed at the plate. Centerfielder Devon Bennett went two-for-two and had four RBI. Shortstop Reese Stevenson got three hits and three runs.
