The Mustang Invitational track meet at McDonald County last Thursday produced a strong showing by the Monett girls' team, who placed third in a field of 10. Carl Junction won the meet for the girls.
On the boys side, the Cubs finished in the middle of the pack, placing sixth out of 12 teams. McDonald County won the meet for the boys.
Girls' individual winners for Monett were: junior Madison Carlin, 100-meter high hurdles; and senior Sara Hammond, 300 hurdles. Carlin placed second in the 300 hurdles, senior Millie Fulton finished second in the 400 and junior Jennifer Frazier placed second in the shot. Hannah Martin was a third place finisher in the high jump.
Relay team winners for the girls were: the 800-meter relay team of Carlin, Fulton, sophomore Sophie Fulton and Katie Upchurch, first place; the 1,600-meter relay team of Millie Fulton, Sara Hammond, junior Amanda McKinney and freshman Raigan Ratliff, first place.
For the boys, Matt Hinkle placed second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100. The senior shot put duo of Jason Obermann and Beau Bounous placed second and third respectively. Sophomore Tyler Green was third in the triple jump.
The Monett track teams will be at Reeds Spring on Tuesday night and will travel to Carthage for a meet on Thursday.
