Leta A. Hemphill, age 93, of Collinsville, Okla., passed away on Wednesday, March 24, at the Frances Streitel Senior Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Leta was born on April 21, 1916, in Aurora, the daughter of the late Quigley Long and Lucretia (West) Long.
Leta worked for McDonnell Douglas Corporation in Tulsa, Okla. She married Maurice Hemphill on Jan. 7, 1951 in Wichita, Kan. He preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1988. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Carmon Long and Doris Long; and one sister: Opel Long. Leta is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and a longtime special friend, Pam Gennardo and family.
Per Leta's request, no visitation will be held. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 29, at the Marionville I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Marionville with Dr. Bill Cox officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association. Special thanks are given to the staff at Frances Streitel Senior Care Center and to the Good Shepherd's Hospice. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, in Monett.
