Missouri Weekly Hay Summary - Week ending 03/26/2010

Spring has officially arrived however it was hard to convince many of that 
over the past weekend as a short lived but powerful winter storm passed over 
the state. Temperatures dropped 30-35 degrees and 10-14 inches of snow fell in 
the hardest hit areas in the west and southwest part of the state. Despite what 
is, seemingly at this point, going to be another less than normal spring several 
farmers have managed to get fertilizer spread on hay and pastures. No reports 
of anyone, even the guys that run early, being able to get any work done in crop 
fields though. Unlike the last several years with large amounts of carryover hay 
the amount of hay carried over into this growing season is basically to the 
point of non-existant. The supply of hay is light, demand moderate, and prices 
steady. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for
