Southwest Missouri teams claimed three of the 10 MSHSAA championship basketball trophies at the Show-Me Showdown in Columbia. Springfield Hillcrest came from behind to stun Oakville for the Class 5 boys title, the Webb City girls defeated Notre Dame of Cape Girardeau, 60-53, in Class 4, and the Lady Mountaineers of Mt. Vernon swept past Cardinal Ritter 44-30 for Class 3 supremacy.

| A trio of area boys teams brought home fourth place trophies from Columbia. The Republic Tigers were fourth in Class 4, Mt. Vernon was fourth in Class 3, and Clever was fourth in Class 2. |
| The most dominant team in Missouri, the Scott County Central boys, ran wild over their competitors, winning their last four games by an average score of 95-50 while winning the Class 1 boys title. Only one-loss Dadeville held the dunking-machine Braves under 90 points in that span. SCC finished with a 29-2 record. |
| Sturgeon won the Class 2 boys title, finishing with a perfect 32-0 slate, edging Bernie 82-80 in an exciting final. St. Francis Borgia's hopes for an undefeated dream season were dashed in the Class 4 final, when they lost to Kearney, 47-43. |
| The Harrisburg girls capped an undefeated 31-0 season with a win in the Class 2 championship game, defeating Thayer by a 52-40 score. Class 1 Montrose also went 31-0 while winning the Class 1 girls crown. |
| Both the Webb City and Incarnate Word girls won titles with one-loss seasons. |
