Woman hurt in PC crash

A Verona woman was seriously injured yesterday in a two-vehicle crash on County Road 2220 one mile east of Pierce City.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jamie E. Steele, 21, was transported to St. John's Hospital in Joplin with serious injuries after her 2001 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2002 Chevrolet Impala driven by Ashley Rexon, 23, of Pierce City, collided and both vehicles traveled off the roadway.

The Patrol report indicated that Rexon's vehicle was traveling down the center of the roadway and struck Steele's car.

Rexon was taken by ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin and treated for minor injuries. Two other passengers in Rexon's car, Jasmine A. Rexon, a newborn girl, and Madison R. Rexon, 2, also received minor injuries in the crash, which occurred at 11 a.m.

Other traffic crash

A pair of Aurora residents were hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 44 one mile west of Halltown last night.

According to the Patrol, Kimberly S. Holycross, 43, of Aurora, lost control of her 1998 Ford Escort, ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment.

Holycross was taken by ambulance to Cox Monett Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Robert L. Robley, 75, of Aurora, who was a passenger in Holycross's vehicle, was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield with moderate injuries.

The crash occurred at 6:10 p.m. The Patrol report indicated that both Holycross and Robley were wearing their seat belts.
