Every high school coach wants to have a 1,000 point career scorer on their roster. Having two is a rare luxury. Grant Young is blessed with three of them at Purdy, and they will all be back next season.
|Addy Roller joined Shelby White and Audrey Patton in the four-digit club on Wednesday night, leading the Purdy Lady Eagles past Jasper, 86-38, in their Class 2 District 10 girls semifinal at Sarcoxie. Roller was the game's leading scorer with 28.|
|Jasper never stood a chance against the Purdy onslaught. Roller scored 12 points in the first period as the Lady Eagles opened a 31-11 lead. Jasper never led, and the only tie was during the national anthem. Shelby White's trey opened the first double-digit lead at 16-6 with 4:27 on the clock.|
|The caution flag was already out for Jasper, but Roller's race to the record books was just beginning.|
|As the game careened out of control scorewise, Young was already substituting freely even before halftime. The teams reached intermission with Purdy firmly in command, 52-24.|
|The Purdy starters returned to start the third quarter, and Roller resumed her chase. With 2:02 remaining in the period, she nailed a shot to give her 28 for the night and 1,000 for her career. The Purdy starters returned to the bench, and the JV Eagles maintained the 41-point lead to the final break.|
|The clock-shortened fourth quarter went to Purdy by an 8-1 margin, and the Lady Eagles ended Jasper's season with the 86-38 bruising.|
|Purdy will meet Miller and Hannah Wilkerson in the much-anticipated girls championship game on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sarcoxie gym.|
