Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 3/03/10

   Compared to last Wednesday, the bulk slaughter cows sold 2.00-3.00
lower and slaughter bulls sold 1.00 lower. The major packers had enough
cows coming into the day to be current on their needs and with no push
to secure cows prices fell back. Several dispersals were included in the
offering providing several good bred replacements and cow/calf pairs.
Supply was heavy and demand moderate for slaughter classes.

   Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd
and 3rd stage 950-1365 lbs most 620.00-825.00, few better quality 875.00,
1st stage 1065-1295 lbs 575.00-610.00; short and solid mouth to aged few
2nd and 3rd stage 1090-1330 lbs 500.00-635.00. Large 1-2  4-6 yrs few 2nd
