Norma Dean Howard, age 85, of Monett, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Norma was born on Nov. 17, 1924 in Monett to the late Warren and Dessie (Wilks) Myers.
She attended school in Verona and retired from Modern Variety as a sales clerk in 1994. Norma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monett.
On Dec. 23, 1941 Randall J. Howard and Norma Dean Myers were united in marriage in Monett. They celebrated over 54 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on June 24, 1996.
To this union two daughters were born. Norma is survived by her daughters: Wanda Hutchison and her husband, Bob, of Marionville; and Rhea Lynn Howard, of Monett; one grandson: Randy Hutchison, of Marionville; one granddaughter: Cindy Bourey and her husband, Mark, of Monett; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one half-brother: Pat Myers and his wife, Jean, of Pierce City; and one half-sister, Norma Sue Sullivan and her husband, Jim, of Monett.
Norma was preceded in death by one brother: Billy Gene Myers.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, at the Monett I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Dr. Bill Cox officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
Memorial contributions have been requested to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
