The Verona Lady Wildcats are continuing their winning ways with a 58-39 Ozark 7 Conference victory over McAuley.
A dominating 20-2 first quarter gave Verona a huge cushion, and the Lady Wildcats led 39-13 at the half. Even though McAuley scored 17 points to Verona's 9 in the final quarter, it was not enough to earn the win as the Lady Wildcats walked away with their 10th league victory.
Tristan Carrasquillo had an outstanding game with 22 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Other Verona standouts were: Jessica Smith, 13 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals; Beth Bigham, 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block; Jenna Chadd, 10 points, three rebounds and four assists; Taylor Pinkly, 2 points and one assist; and Jori Dodson, six rebounds and one assist.
The Verona boys are still searching for their first conference win after losing to McAuley 51-36 last night.
