The Pierce City Lady Eagles picked up their seventh Spring Valley Conference win on Monday night when they bested Diamond 64-49.
The Lady Eagles outscored Diamond in all four quarters and led 29-22 at halftime before enjoying a big 21-point third quarter that gave them a 50-36 advantage going into the final quarter.
Kaelyn Osborn led Pierce City with 17 points. Rachel Miller and Megan Golubski also scored in double digits, contributing 14 and 13 points respectively.
Other Pierce City scorers were: Taylor Mettlach 6; Abby Ashley 6; Beth Parrigon 3; Rebecca Hatfield 3; and Emily Ashley 2.
The Pierce City girls are 15-10 overall and 7-1 in the Spring Valley.
Last night, the Pierce City boys team also downed Diamond by a score of 58-47.
A strong first quarter set the tone for the victory as the Eagles earned an early 20-9 lead. By half-time, Diamond had edged closer to 29-22 but the Wildcats were unable to overtake a solid Pierce City effort.
Robert Baldwin sparked the Eagles with his game-leading 20 points. Other Pierce City players putting points on the board were: Chance Chapman 12: Derek Turner 9; Wayne Joe Sooter, 7; Cedric O'Hara 4; Cody Cox 2; Cody Fitchpatrick 2; and Garren Cantrell 2.
Pierce City is now 11-13 overall and 5-3 in the league.
Both the boys and girls teams will close out the regular season with games at Liberal on Thursday night.
