Meeting Monday to offer info on school proposal

Friday, February 19, 2010

Citizens United for Better Schools (CUBS) will hold a public meeting detailing plans for renovations at the Monett Elementary School at 6:30 p.m. on Monday in the elementary school cafeteria.

This will be the first presentation the group will offer on the $4.5 million bond issue going before voters on April 6. Architects from Sapp Design Associates will have renderings of the building changes and new construction at the meeting.

Rebecca Merriman, chairperson for the Proposition CUBS steering committee, and the Monett R-1 Board of Education invite the public to attend the campaign kick-off meeting.

School board members and architects will be present to answer questions. The committee will be soliciting volunteers to assist with different aspects of the upcoming campaign.

"We hope you will take the time to join us at this meeting and learn how you can help make these improvements a reality for our students," said David Beckett, president of the Monett R-1 Board.
