The Monett Chamber of Commerce is still accepting applications for its 2010 Leadership Monett class. This will be the fourth time the chamber is sponsoring the popular program, which will begin on March 11 and conclude in June.
According to Suzy McElmurry, chamber executive director, the program involves a four-month commitment by its members who meet every other Thursday for eight four-hour sessions. Class members also work to complete a community project together.
The class will begin with a retreat at Camp Barnabus on March 11 and 12. Class members will then begin meeting monthly from noon to 5 p.m. on the following dates: March 18; April 1; April 15; April 29; May 13; May 27; June 10. A special graduation celebration will be held June 15.
The monthly sessions will include topics such as government, economic development, healthcare and education. A new session segment is being added this year. "Profit 101" will provide class members with a highly interactive simulation to teach participants how to grow a company.
Leadership Monett was created four years ago by the chamber to provide and enhance "the foundation for great business and community leaders with targeted and specialized training in an affordable and accessible manner."
