A Golden man was killed Friday night in a one-vehicle crash on Farm Road 2260 two miles north of Golden.
Wesley N. Johnson, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Barry County Deputy Coroner Charlie McManus.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Trooper Hilburn observed Johnson driving in a careless and imprudent manner and attempted to stop him at around 10:04 p.m. While trying to overtake Johnson, the trooper lost sight of Johnson's 1991 Ford Mustang as it left the roadway and struck a tree.
The Patrol report indicated that Johnson was not wearing a seat belt. The fatal accident marks Troop D's 12th fatality of the year.
Other traffic crashes
* An Ash Grove woman was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash on Friday evening on Route O three miles west of Chesapeake. Billie J. Orosz, 35, was taken by ambulance to St. John's Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries. Also injured in the crash were Donald R. Orosz, 39, who received moderate injuries as a result of the crash, and Dustie R. Orosz, 10, and Jesse Orosz, 6, who suffered minor injuries. The crash occurred at 5:10 p.m. when the 2001 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Donald Orosz ran off the side of the roadway to try to avoid another vehicle that had crossed the center line. Donald Orosz lost control of his vehicle, which overturned and slid into a ditch. According to the Patrol report, all four people in the vehicle were wearing their seat belts.
* A one-vehicle crash early Saturday morning left an Aurora man with minor injuries. Zackery A. Dyer, 23, was taken by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield and treated for his injuries, which occurred when Dyer's pickup traveled off the left side of the road and struck a ditch. The crash occurred at 1:55 a.m. Dyer was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the Patrol report.
