Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 2/10/10
Thursday, February 11, 2010
MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News
Receipts: 460 Last Week: 512 Last Year: 942
Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows sold 2.00-3.00 higher and
slaughter bulls sold 3.00 higher. The law of supply and demand was at
work today with a light supply and very good demand slaughter prices
advanced. Mud in some places and snow in others made the movement of
cattle to market difficult this week. The number of bred cows returning
to the farm was very small given the pressure of higher slaughter prices
and no cow/calf pairs were traded. Supply was light and demand very
good for slaughter classes.
Note: Joplin Regional Stockyards will hold a special cow sale Saturday
February 13th beginning at 1:00 pm.
