Community members will have the opportunity to participate in a screening and educational program during Cox Monett Hospital's annual Heart Healthy Fair, which will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 8.
"Cox Monett Hospital would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to participate in the event," said Gail Brattin, Heart Healthy Fair coordinator and Cardiopulmonary Rehab Services supervisor.
The free personal assessment requires no appointment and includes blood pressure, pulse oximetry, body mass index calculation, height-weight and blood sugar tests.
Patrons can also have a full-lipid profile (lab draw) done, which requires pre-registration and costs $10. For accurate results, individuals who plan to participate in the lipid profile or blood sugar test are encouraged to fast (no food or drink) for 10 hours prior to the screening. After fasting tests have been performed, breakfast items will be provided.
Nursing staff will be available to answer questions and provide educational material regarding heart disease and wellness during the Heart Healthy Fair.
A physician's order is not required for tests done during the Heart Healthy Fair.
