The Lady Cubs took an early lead and never looked back in defeating Lamar 60-43 in Big 8 Conference action on Monday night.
Monett led 14-6 after one quarter and 26-17 after two to establish control of the game. In the second two quarters, Lamar was able to score 26 points but the Lady Cubs put in 34 points of their own to seal the win.
Hunter Glouse had a strong performance on both ends of the court, scoring 15 points and pulling down 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Jenny Frazier led the team in scoring with 16 while Amanda McKinney was Monett's assists leader with six. Madison Carlin was strong on defense with five steals while also putting up 15 points for the Lady Cubs.
Others scoring for Monett were: Aubrey Lemaster, Danielle Neill and Dedre Beckett, 4 each; McKinney, 2; and Anna Cloud, 1.
The win over Lamar upped the Lady Cubs' Big 8 record to 2-1 while their overall record stands at 8-10.

The junior varsity squad has a 4-5 record with the win over Lamar.
Lady Cubs fall to Carthage
Last night, the Lady Cubs travelled to Carthage and lost 53-43. Glouse led scoring with 17 points followed by Carlin with 13 points. Others scoring for Monett were: Frazier and Amanda McKinney, 4 each; Beckett, 3; and Lay, 2.
Frazier was the Lady Cubs' rebounds leader with eight boards while McKinney dished out nine assists and Frazier and Lemaster were credited with four steals each.
In the junior varsity contest, the young Lady Cubs were edged out 34-31. Scoring for Monett were: Cloud, 8; Neill, 6; Ratliff and Schmidt, 4 each; Lay, 3; and Caroline McKinney, Harper and Millie Fulton, 2 each.
The Monett ladies will travel to Mt. Vernon on Thursday with only the varsity playing. That game will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity boys contest at 7:30 p.m.
The varsity Lady Cubs are now 8-11 for the season.
