Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 2/01/10

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Receipts: 232 Last Week: 405 Last Year: 416

Compared last Monday, breaking slaughter cows sold 1.00-2.00 higher
while boning and lean cows sold steady to 1.00 higher and slaughter bulls
sold steady to 1.00 lower. The area remains covered under the snow which
fell this past weekend making travel on back roads and maneuvering around
the barn lots a challenge especially with a trailer in tow, therefore re-
ceipts were light. Only a few bred cows were traded and cow/calf pairs were
scarce. The supply was light and demand moderate for slaughter classes.
