Lorene R. Eggeman, born August 18, 1923, daughter of Loren H. and Millie E. Douthitt peacefully passed away at Mercy Community Medical Center on January 24, 2010 at the age of 86.
Although she always shared fond memories of friends and family she suffered some difficult times growing up during the depression. Born in Oklahoma and raised in Missouri she was the youngest of three daughters losing her mother at age three and then her father at age fifteen. At the age of seventeen she married and then in 1940 moved to California with her new husband where they settled and began a family. In 1963, they moved to Merced.
As a wife, mother and homemaker she made sure her family knew right from wrong, taught us to believe in God and prayer and always kept a clean home. As a member of the Lutheran Church she attended many church socials and collected donations for The American Heart Association.
Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening, sewing, crocheting, fishing, camping and crossword puzzles. Also she loved her pets, detective shows and anything to bring the family together. As "The Boss" of our family she will be missed.
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband Cecil J. Eggeman, her daughter Barbara J. (Eggeman) Sanden and her sister Martha Etter.
She leaves behind a sister Ruth Williams, her sons John Eggeman and Robert Eggeman and a daughter Karen (Eggeman) Walsh, 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Lorene's name to the American Heart Association/Gift Processing Department-1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.
A public visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 and the Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in the Chapel of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Merced, California.
