Boyd Dale Ballard, age 77, of Monett, passed away from this life on Jan. 25 at Sarcoxie Nursing Center following a long illness.
He had lived in this area most of his life. He was born on Jan. 9, 1933 in West Plains and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a past Abou Ben Adhem Shriner, a Master Mason and a member of the Barry County Shrine Club. He worked for Kraft Foods in his younger years. He owned and operated the following businesses before retiring: the Silo Restaurant and the Qwik Stop convenience store.
Survivors include his son: Mike and wife Twyla, of Monett; his granddaughter: Chanti Downey, of Carthage; a grandson: Jeremy Chandler, of Hollister; two sisters: Freda Reichert, of Springfield and Wanda Bratcher and husband Cliff, of Nixa; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant son that died at birth; his parents, Theodore Roosevelt Ballard and Lillie Bratcher; and two brothers: Glen "Bud" Ballard and Ray Ballard.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29 at the Greenlawn Funeral Home South with graveside services following at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield.
