Leroy Green, age 72, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
Leroy was born on Nov. 28, 1937 to Leon and Lucille Green in Rogers, Ark. He married his wife, Shirley on Jan. 21, 1971.
Leroy was a metal fabricator for Midwest Aluminum for 27 years. He loved to paint, play the guitar, spending time outdoors and gardening, but most of all spending time with his family. Leroy was also an avid reader.
Preceding Leroy in death were his parents, an infant brother and a great-grandson, Cayde Lawson.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Shirley; children: Sharon and Scott Cleaveland, David Green, Steven and Anita Green, Sherry and Richard Breshears, Troy and Jennifer Phillips, Lisa and Rick Shepherd and Kelly Fore; 17 grandchildren: 12 great-grandchildren; a brother: Don and Paula Green; and a sister: Shirley and Carroll Poage.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27 in the Chapel at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home, 4500 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, Mo. with interment to follow at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens. A visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, in the Chapel.
The family has requested memorial donations be made in Leroy's name to the American Cancer Society, 3322 S. Campbell Ave., Springfield, Mo. 65807.
