Monett's 48-39 win over College Heights Christian at the Sarcoxie Invitational on Saturday was bittersweet.
The top-seeded Lady Cubs won the consolation bracket of the tournament with the victory, but the stinging upset on Monday night at the hands of David Brewer's Strafford Lady Indians certainly changed the complexion of the tournament for Monett.
|Gone was the opportunity to play for the coveted hardware and also the chance to match up against Exeter in a much anticipated game.|
|But in basketball, there are no mulligans. To their credit, the Lady Cubs went out and took care of business the rest of the week. Monett drilled Sarcoxie on Friday night, to the tune of 66-28, then turned around and defeated College Heights 48-39 on Saturday.|

Eight Monett players scored against Sarcoxie, led by Madison Carlin's 18-point outing. Other Lady Cub scorers were: Hunter Glouse 18; Jenny Frazier 10; Aubrey Lemaster 8; Amanda McKinney and Millie Fulton 4 each; and Dedre Beckett, Anna Cloud, Nicollette Fellwock ad Danielle Neill 2 each.
Carlin and McKinney each scored 12 against College Heights, and Frazier added 8. Other Lady Cubs who added to the point total were: Lemaster 6, Glouse 5, Beckett 3 and Mackenzie Lay 2.
The Exeter Lady Tigers went on to win the Sarcoxie Tournament by overpowering Commerce (Okla.) 63-31.
