Nominees sought for award

Monday, January 25, 2010

Nominations are now being accepted for the Dale Taunton Helping Hands Award, the recognition for community service given in Pierce City by the Dacy Foundation. The award is named in recognition of Dale Taunton, who lost his life in the May 4, 2003, tornado while helping others find shelter.

"This award was created to recognize neighbor helping neighbor," said the Dacy Foundation spokesperson.

All nominees must live within the Pierce City R-6 School District but not necessarily in the city limits. Nominations should be made in writing, detailing how this person has provided help to another neighbor and are deserving of the award.

Nominations should be mailed by March 12 to the Dacy Foundation, 211 N. Myrtle St., Pierce City, MO 65723.

A letter acknowledging the submission will be sent to each of the nominees. A committee will choose three finalists, who will be guests at the community banquet in April. The winner will be announced at that time.
