Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 1/20/10

   Compared to last Wednesday, breaking and boning slaughter cows sold
2.00-4.00 lower with the greatest decline on early sales and lean cows
sold 2.00 lower while slaughter bulls sold 3.00 lower. A high percent
of the offering was slaughter cows. Receipt were heavy despite extremely
muddy conditions out on the farm. Most bred cows and cow/calf pairs were
young cows. Supply was heavy and demand moderate for slaughter classes.

most 58.00-76.00, couple 77.00-80.00; 3-7 yrs 750-1310 lbs most 41.00-
54.75, few black and black white face 58.00-60.00.

   Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd
and 3rd stage 1090-1365 lbs most 650.00-850.00, some better quality
900.00, 1st stage 985-1300 lbs 535.00-700.00; short and solid mouth to
aged 2nd and 3rd stage 1100-1265 lbs 500.00-610.00. Large 1-2  4-7  yrs
2nd and 3rd stage 1390-1675 lbs 700.00-935.00, 1st stage 5 yr 1400 lb
indiv. 675.00. Medium and Large 2  3-5 yrs 2nd and 3rd stage 1020-1250
lbs 550.00-610.00. Medium 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd and
3rd stage 900-1000 lbs 500.00-625.00.

   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1-2  2-7 yrs 1060-1325 lb cows w/
120-275 lb calves and some rebred 850.00-1075.00, some w/new born calves
675.00-775.00; short and solid mouth to aged 1100-1225 lb cows w/babies-
165 lb calves 600.00-800.00. Medium 1-2  short and solid mouth pkg. 1035
lb cows w/165 lb calves 775.00.
