Charles Lawrence "Blackie" Mynatt went to be with his Lord on Jan. 16, 2010, at the Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon.
Blackie was born to Claude and Nora (Yancey) Mynatt in Lawrenceburg, Mo. on April 22, 1918. He was a 1936 graduate of Halltown High School and was a WWII Navy veteran.
Blackie was employed for 38 years at the now Missouri Rehabilitation Center and retired in 1980 as maintenance supervisor.
On July 3, 1987, he married Lois Burris in Mt. Vernon. His many hobbies included amateur radio, golf, building and flying model airplanes and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife: Lois Burris Butler Mynatt, of the home; children: Mike Mynatt and wife, Lisa, of London, Ky., Sue Shook, of Springfield, Janice Sims and husband, Larry, of Columbia, Linda Butler Auman and husband, Buddy, of Springdale, Ark., Ray Butler and wife, Francine, of Spring, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one favorite niece, Ora Sue Fellows and husband, Bill, of Los Osos, Calif.; along with his church family and many friends and neighbors.
Blackie was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children, Martha Brown Mynatt; and son, Gary Butler.
Funeral services, under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, of Mt. Vernon, will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Church on the Loop Assembly of God Church, in Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow, with full military honors, in the Miller Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, in the funeral home chapel.
