In a non-conference basketball game on Friday, the host Monett Lady Cubs outscored the Diamond Lady Wildcats 30-19 in the second half to pull away and win 50-38.
Monett improved to 5-8 on the season.
|"We did not play very well, particularly shooting the ball, but we battled and did what we needed to do to get the win," said Monett Coach Derrek Uhl.|
The Lady Cubs were behind 10-7 after the first quarter but then began to take control. Monett outscored the Lady Wildcats 13-9 in the second stanza for a one-point halftime lead and then took charge in the second half.
Hunter Glouse led Monett's scoring attack with 16 points. Other players scoring for the Lady Cubs were Madison Carlin with 12 points, Amanda McKinney with 8 points, Jenny Frazier and Dedre Beckett with 4 points each and Mackenzie Lay and Aubrey Lemaster with 3 points each.
Carlin led the Lady Cubs in rebounds with 10. Lemaster was the team leader in steals with six. McKinney led the team in assists with four.
Monett won the junior varsity game over Diamond 44-27.
Scoring for the Monett jayvee were Anna Cloud with 13 points, Danielle Neill with 10 points, Caroline McKinney with 9 points, Nicollette Fellwock with 5 points, Raigan Ratliff with 4 points and Jessica Schmidt with 3 points.
