Area patrons will have an opportunity to view the Lawrence County Board for the Developmentally Disabled (LCDD) new office and community center next week during an open house event.
The open house will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the new facility located at 403 Elm St. in Aurora. Light refreshments will be provided.
Last September, LCDD board members voted to purchase the new facility, which was formerly used as a church. The move was completed prior to the Nov. 30, 2009, LCDD board meeting.
"We have seen more interaction with developmentally disabled citizens since we moved into this facility," said LCDD Director George Woodward. "We are very pleased to have this larger building."
The building is approximately 2,700 square feet. This is a substantial increase in size compared to the 1,100-square-foot building the board had rented for the past six years.
