Forfeits Costly As MHS Cubs Grapplers Lose Twice In Triangular

In a triangular wrestling match at Carl Junction last night, the Monett Cubs lost to Nixa 46-28 and to Carl Junction 45-28.

"Although the score didn't indicate a lot of success, I am very pleased with our performance," said Monett Coach Daryl Bradley. "We out-wrestled our opponents, and the coaching staff is pleased with our overall progress."

Winning by fall for the Cubs against Nixa were: Ethan Davis, at 140 pounds, over Evan Rotten at the 58-second mark; and Marcus Enloe, at 145 pounds, over Mike Fox at the 1:01 mark.

Posting decisions for Monett were: Chris Renteria, at 125 pounds, over Dakota Davis 6-4; Carter Huffmaster, at 135 pounds, over Jack Pritchett 10-2; and Matt Schiffner, at 171 pounds, over Conner Hunt 9-4.

Nicky Roberts, at 112 pounds, lost by fall to Austin Finley at the 3:39 mark, and Juan Renteria, at 130 pounds, lost a 16-4 decision to Sam Evans.

Ty Irwin, at 189 pounds, won by forfeit.

Monett lost six matches by forfeit to both Nixa and Carl Junction, earning 36 points in each dual.

Logging wins by fall for Monett against Carl Junction were: Chris Renteria over Caleb Wilson at the 2:24 mark; and Schiffner over Josh Gunnett at the 1:19 mark.

Winning by decision were: Juan Renteria over Corey Cagle 7-3; Huffmaster over Constance Infante 6-4; and Davis over Dalton England 14-4.

Losing by decision was Enloe to John Landes 8-1. Losing by fall was Irwin to Levi Maggard at the 1:03 mark.

Roberts got a win by forfeit.

In exhibition action against Nixa, Corey Skipper, Clayton Patton and Devon Overall won by fall. In exhibition action against Carl Junction, Kurran Blamey and Patton won by fall.

Monett will compete in the Branson Tournament on Saturday.
